Sasha Wardell, British Studio Pottery porcelain small bowl, c2010
Size: 11.2 cm across rim lengthwise, 8.5 cm widthwise, external depth 6 cm. Condition: Excellent condition, no chips cracks or restoration. This lovely delicate bowl in unglazed cast bone china, with a stylised pattern on the outside is made in Sasha Wardell’s hallmark style. The bowl is thin and light and has the typical translucence of bone china, with a light straw colour. Sahsa Wardell’s incised initials are on the base. Sasha Wardell is an expert in the field of developing bone china for studio work, and the author of two books on the subject. She studied at the Bath Academy of Art in 1979, and later at Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs, Limoges, France, and received her M. In Ceramic Design at North Staffordshire Polytechnic, Stoke on Trent, in 1981. Sasha has concentrated on perfecting the craft-based skills which enhance the inherent qualities of bone china and her carefully produced distinctive work embraces and reflects contemporary taste and lifestyle. Her work is found on many of the top galleries and retail stores around the world, and also in many museums. Awards have included the Grand Prix at 1st World Triennial of Small Ceramics, Zagreb (Crotia), a diploma at 12th Biennial of Ceramic Art, Vallauris (France), shortlisted for Sydney Myer International Ceramic Award, Shepparton (Australia) and a’Crafted’ recipient with Walpole Luxury Brands, London (United Kingdom).
