Born in 1936 in Maastricht, Hein Severijns trained at the Academy of Applied Arts and did various internships abroad before setting up his stoneware and porcelain workshop in Reuver in the Netherlands. He is an article writer, designer, and member of the Heusden ceramics board. His fired pieces are available in an infinite variety of glazes (celadon, copper red, tenmoku) and glazes (raku, ash) in blue, yellow or green. Hein Severijns no longer produces these fine vases. He developed the glazes, consciously opting for matte or eggshell crystal glazes with small, generally round crystals in earthy colours, in harmony with the introvert shape of his vases. Various tints of blue, green, ochre, sometimes combined with pink and beige. The very special colour effects are formed by applying thin layers of glazes on top of each other. His vases are created using a mixture of French, German and Australian porcelain mass, which is fired at approximately 1300ºC. After many years of chemical research into crystal glazes, he successfully achieved an extremely high degree of perfection. Incised signature to base (hein). A rare opportunity to own this beautiful example which is sure to appreciate in value.
